Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, a new expansion to the award-winning action RPG from Bandai Namco that will tempt players back into the Land of Shadow with a new story, bosses, weapons, and more, will be its first and only DLC, FromSoftware director Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed. Miyazaki, who also serves as company president, shared the news in an interview with China’s Bonfire this week, suggesting that any additional stories would probably come by way of a sequel.
Miyazaki said (per machine translation):
- “It is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add more content to Elden Ring.”
- “…but it has not yet been decided whether the entire story of Elden Ring will be the focus.”
- “FromSoftware’s style of doing things is that it generally does not allow the future of an IP to be easily locked…it is better to leave some possibilities.”
- “…but as far as Shadow of the Erdtree is concerned, it is the only DLC.”
